Online Job-Hunting Sites Get More Focused

As job hunting and networking moves online to a greater extent, the types of online resources have changed and grown narrower in focus. Since job hunting is time consuming and difficult, technology that matches the right type of job hunter with the right kind of employer is becoming more popular.

Large job boards such as Monster and HotJobs have been losing ground to social networking sites that offer not just a chance for employers and employees to connect, but the chance to interact with each other on a personal level and solicit advice or recommendations.

As this trend continues, networking sites with specific criteria are becoming more popular. LinkedIn links professionals of any sort, but TheLadders focuses entirely on executive jobs paying more than $100,000 a year.

Doostang is a site created by MBA graduates to cater to young professionals at the beginning or middle of their careers, offering a social network based on the mutual connections forged in business schools.
