For many job seekers, it is important to stand out to potential employers by taking a creative approach to networking. With social media being a heavy focus for career hopefuls as they look to make network connections through websites such as LinkedIn and Twitter, some are using their business savvy to properly market themselves on the web.

Alec Brownstein decided to tap into the mindset of an advertising executive when it came to brainstorming ways to get noticed, according to CBS News. After Googling notable executives' names, he noticed that there were no sponsored ads on the page. Brownstein decided to use this to his advantage and bought a Google ad that marketed his skills.

While the cost of the ad depends on the notoriety of the person or company, Brownstein was able to buy the top result for Ian Reichenthal for 15 cents. As luck would have it, Reichenthal noticed Brownstein's ad and offered him a job based on his creativity.

"I thought it was great. It was so unusual and fun and just really simple. A simple idea. That's just the kind of ideas we're looking for," Reichenthal told the news provider.

If all else fails, job seekers should try networking, as BusinessWeek reports it accounts for 70 percent of all positions filled.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19785473-ADNFCR
