Although social networking could be a beneficial tool for getting one's name out into the career market, there are efficient ways to go about doing it, according to BankRate.com. Individuals should stick to websites such as Linkedin to learn about the company and the kind of people they employ. Because this is a social website specifically for careers, individuals get a full look into the inner workings of the company.

However, while Facebook may also be a good tool to have, potential employees should not go about friending their potential new coworkers, Crystal Kendrick, president of a marketing consulting firm, told the news provider. She suggests that people becoming fans of a company, rather than trying to befriend their potential bosses.
