Starting out in customer service can be a way to develop personal skills that could be useful in the business world. Because customer service jobs do not require as much training and education as other business positions, they can serve as a way to start out in a company and work up the corporate ladder. Additionally, workers can get experience working with the general public, which can be translated to employee relations.

Visa recently announced their plans to add more than 350 jobs to their Miami, Florida, call center, which is set to open by this June at the latest, according to the Miami Herald. The workers will handle client relations to ensure that their customers are happy with their services.

Residents and government officials of Miami are eager for the job creation, as Visa's announcement comes on the heels of a report that the area was faced with a record-high unemployment rate.

"It's a hopeful day," Frank Nero, president of the Beacon Council, told the news provider. "But there's no silver bullet. There is no cure-all for the high unemployment but we're going to keep whacking at it."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in customer service are expected to increase by 18% by 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19665021-ADNFCR
