Just like the song says, sometimes people want to go where everyone knows their name.

Long time restaurant manager Andy McGee is experiencing first-hand some of the aspects celebrated in the Cheers theme song since opening his own business with his wife, the Alabama newspaper Press-Register reports.

For two years the couple have owned and operated Lenny's Sub Shop, and they told the news provider they make an extra effort to add a personal touch to their service.

"Knowing our customers and them knowing us is very important to my wife and I," McGee said. "We try to get out from behind the counter and get to know people that come in to eat with us."

The McGees also appear to be aware of current business trends and catering to the needs of the public.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more people are gravitating toward the convenience of eating out and having their meals prepared for them. In the next seven years, the bureau expects wage and salary jobs in the food services industry to increase by 11%.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19117975-ADNFCR
