One woman is using her combined skills to launch a new business that could be increasingly in demand in the future.

According to a recent report in the Hartford Courant, Judie Threatt has founded a business as a legal nurse consultant. In that capacity, she works with lawyers to find evidence of improper medical care. She can reportedly earn up to $150 an hour for her services and still save lawyers on the costs of hiring physician-experts for the courtroom.

"It's medical detective work. You have to go over every note, every entry, and put it all together," Threatt told the newspaper.

Threatt is said to be both a registered nurse and a graduate of the law school at St. Louis University. If you want to learn more about her field, try the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants' website.

For people thinking about starting their own business, Threatt's career can be seen as evidence that the right combination of skills can be the way to successful self-employment.
