It often takes more than a profitable idea to make a successful entrepreneur. Though ideas lay the groundwork for entrepreneurial enterprises, an element of courage is needed to accept the inherent risks and accountability that come with owning and leading a business venture. For those just beginning work on such a commercial endeavor, assuming responsibility for property, labor, and capital can seem like an extraordinarily daunting task.

Sometimes the triumphant road to starting one's own business can be aided by following the examples of successful predecessors. The first Entrepreneurship Film Festival, put on by the Entrepreneurship Center, will present four films which investigate the paths taken and struggles encountered by some of today's entrepreneurial success stories, the Ball State Daily News Online reports.

Specifically, the films will attempt to thwart the naivety of aspiring business owners by pointing out crucial mistakes that are often made by business developers. Furthermore, some of the films address topics such as artistic integrity and coping with strong outside influences from the business community.

Directors of the event, professors Michael Goldsby and Cecil Bohanon, will lead discussion sessions after each film to allow students the opportunity to ask questions and relate the films to their personal entrepreneurial experiences.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 7% to 8% of the households in the U.S. are headed by entrepreneurs, who collectively own almost one-third of all wealth in the country.
