Many individuals who are working toward a degree in business may find comfort in knowing that the education on their resume may now be worth the price. Recently, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) released data from surveys that showed that businesses plan to hire more recent college graduates this year, according to BusinessWeek.

The NACE said that hiring will increase by double-digits, which is promising news amidst the sluggish economic conditions. Hiring from the graduating class of 2011 will jump by at least 13%, and salaries have also risen for the first time since 2008. This is also the first time in 18 months that hiring is expected to increase.

The average salary for 2011 graduates is predicted to hit approximately $50,000 per year. This is a 3.5% year over year increase. Business majors will make 2% more than before with an average of $49,000.

Accounting and finance majors are also expected to make more money annually at nearly $50,000. This is a 2% jump from previous years.

The unemployment rate in January was 9%, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. A postsecondary degree can help individuals appeal to potential employers.
