If you love dogs and are interested in finding your perfect job, the American Kennel Club website has some suggestions for you.

The AKC.org website offers a long list of career opportunities that people can pursue working with dogs and other animals, from dog show professionals to groomers and trainers. The purebred dog show circuit alone has about five different career choices, from handlers to judges.

However, many other options are available. The AKC hires people to work on its publications and to serve various roles at dog shows.

Another category for pet lovers is service professions, which includes groomers, behaviorists, dog walkers and dog sitters.

Other ways people work their love for animals into their careers is by working for pet food companies, creating pet novelty items and working or managing at pet shops. There have also been a growing number of openings in recent years for veterinary medicine professionals, including veterinary assistants.

Overall, the organization provides enough different resources so that somebody interested in working with animals can potentially find their niche.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Labor Statistics cites healthy growing demand for animal care and service workers, with a 19 percent jump expected in the coming years.
