For those who are looking to get into a field that offers promising numbers in terms of employment, careers in accounting may offer an array of opportunities for those looking to get into various sectors. Ranging from personal to large corporations, accounting firms can vary in terms of size and clientele, leaving a wide variety of opportunities that fit just about everyone in the field.

According to findings from U.S. News & World Report, accounting is one of the 50 Best Careers to have in 2010 as the need for professionals in the industry continues to grow. Similarly, National Public Radio (NPR) puts the occupation in the top 10 in terms of growth for the next decade.

Harvard University labor economist Lawrence Katz tells NPR that the number of jobs being created in various fields, including accounting, may outweigh the jobs being lost, predicting that over the next 2 years, the unemployment rate will fall to 5%.
