With the help of the internet, people have been able to turn their crafting hobbies into full-time jobs, according to the New York Times. Etsy, a website specializing in homemade goods, has been used by artists and craftsmen to launch their creative careers.

Starting to sell knitwear on the popular site, Yokoo Gibran decided to quit her day job and focus on a career in crafting. Thirteen months later, Gibran's knit accessories were pulling in more than $140,000 a year. What started as a simple hobby led to a full-time job. Gibran told the news provider that the online exposure led her to land a deal with Urban Outfitters.
