Although many people may believe that technology jobs can be boring, there is one profession that many individuals young and old aspire to – video game developing. Careers in video game developing have become coveted positions among individuals who are interested in expressing their creativity through technology. A career in video gaming could include anything from animation to software development, leaving something for everyone.

More colleges are beginning to offer a video game specialty in hopes of attracting more students. Individuals who are interested in the field should consider having a background in graphic arts or technology. According to the Denver Post, contrary to popular belief, video game developers don't sit in a dark basement eating pizza all day. They can usually be found in data centers as well as technology labs.

However, because the market is tight and company space is limited, many individuals have to look into self-employment.

"There are a lot more people graduating from these programs than there are places for them in the industry," said Brian Robbins, founder of Riptide Games and a board member of the International Game Developers Association.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in software publishing, which video game development falls under, are expected to grow 23.9% by 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19579876-ADNFCR
