Aspiring writers all around the world may stare in frustration at a blank page or computer screen, searching for some direction or inspiration. Career paths for writers can emerge in nearly every industry as the demand for clear communication and economical thought is nearly inexhaustible. One organization is offering assistance to hopeful authors who are seeking the fast-track towards being published. The CBI Clubhouse provides a website which tutors visitors on the craft and logistics of writing and submitting children's book manuscripts. Co-founders Jon Bard and Laura Backes, who began teaching the trade in 1990, have recently transformed their small business into a devoted following of writers. "The goal was to give people an extraordinary amount of information and access to a huge number of fellow writers for support and camaraderie, and to charge as little as we possibly could while still putting food in our dog's dish" Bard said. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the employment of writers and editors will likely grow by 10% until 2016. Most of the growth in this field will satisfy a demand for web-based publications. |
