Architecture, Interior Design Open Doors for Careers in Art
Many people become artists to surround themselves with beauty, and make it their occupation and pursuit. Authorities in the arts will cite the mystically soothing and emotive qualities art can inspire to one who allows himself to appreciate it. Some, in fact, consider it their job to line the streets with this splendor for all to see.

Architectural ornament, considered a primary form of art, has, in modern times, been replaced with mass production of structures using heavy machinery. However, some artistic craftsmen still manually carve fine ornamentation to enhance to pleasurable qualities of America's architecture.

One craftsman, Paul Prambo, has been a fine wood carver and sculptor for over 20 years, during which he replicated gothic, classical, rococo and modern styles in U.S. architecture.

A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Porambo now works with architects, ecclesiastical designers and interior designers to use his craft, predominantly in the San Francisco Bay Area.

According to Porambo, "Creating ornament like this brings together a host of skilled craftsmen that were trained in the old world style of working together to enjoy the collegiality and high level of craftsmanship needed."

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the employment of artists and related workers is expected to grow 16% through 2016.
