The fashion industry is a cut-throat sector, where it's just as hard to stay in business as it is to get a foot in the door. However, while it is hard to break into the industry, the salary is significantly higher than the average worker's hourly wage.

According to data from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Yahoo reports that full-time workers in the country earn an estimated average of $20.90 per hour, or $43,000 a year. However, holding a job as a fashion designer can dramatically increase hourly wages.

Fashion designers earn an average wage of $35.78 per hour, according to the DOL. The job requires candidates to posses practically flawless multitasking skills, since designers are responsible for planning, researching, as well as being able to predict what will be the next hot thing for the upcoming seasons.

They are also responsible for sketching designs, choosing fabrics, along with managing production, according to the news source.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19927984-ADNFCR
