Last week we ran a question and answer about following up after an interview.
Former recruiter Sharon Jones responded via LinkedIn with a story that shows how effective following up can be:
When I was a recruiter in the oil industry I kept getting told to hold off on notifying campus candidates. By the time I was given the go ahead I figured that they were probably no longer available (or disgusted with the delay). Then I got a call from Scott whose father insisted that he follow up with every recruiter. Although he didn’t think it was worth his time Scott did. When he called me I was so pleased to hear from him that I immediately scheduled an interview trip on site and he was hired.
