Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in CYS programs.
- Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children.
- Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children.
- Reviews, provides input to, and implements schedules and activity plans.
- Interacts professionally with staff members, parents, and children.
- Participates in conferences with parents and staff.
- Learns about children's individual needs and ensures a smooth transition between home and program.
- Fosters children's emotional well-being by demonstrating respect for children and creating a positive emotional climate.
- Creates a predictable, consistent, and harmonious classroom.
- Develops individual relationships with children by providing care that is responsive, attentive, consistent, comforting, supportive, and culturally sensitive.
- Briefs employees and communicates with families on a daily basis regarding their children's activities and developmental milestones.
- Supervises children during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities.
- Promotes and models safety, health, and nutrition practices.
- Ensures children's nutritional well-being and maintains a healthful environment.
- Notifies supervisor on health, fire, and safety compliance concerns.
- Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed.
- Provides care, supervision, and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD, Army, and local policies, guidance, and standards.
- Completes designated training requirements and tracks and records completed training.
- Inventories classroom equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies.
- Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities.
- Collects, maintains, and reports program participation data.
