My name is Sandra Kinney. I am currently a Sophomore studying English Publishing Arts at Lewis-Clark State College. Journalism and writing have been a major part of my life over the last 5 years, both of which I plan to pursue in the future. I am most myself when working and reporting on my community as well as working with a dedicated team who shares the same goals and passions as I do.
As a senior in high school, I had the opportunity to do my senior project hours with the Pathfinder at Lewis-Clark State College. Due to the connections I made through my project, I was given a chance to write for the Pathfinder the following year as a student atLCSC. I took the experience I gained working for the Bengal's Purr and used it to write and copy edit for the Pathfinder. I wrote stories ranging from entertainment to news, and was able to broaden my ability to write different genres of stories. Working within set deadlines reinforced my time management skills, as well as helping other team members meet their deadlines.
During my time with the Bengal's Purr, I worked my way up from reporter to Editor in Chief, Managing Editor, Chief Copy Editor and Features Editor. This opportunity gave me leadership experience, as well as experience in photography, budget making and implementing and copy editing. A majority of my time with the Purr was spent working with the applications in the Adobe Cloud, such as Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. I also gained experience in the following;
During the three years I wrote for the Bengal's Purr, my staff and I earned two international first place awards from Quill and Scroll.
Adobe Cloud Certified; Illustrator and InDesign
