Junior year of high School spent in Poitiers, France, sponsored by the Rotary Youth Exchange program, hosted by 3 different families, and attended a local High School.
Spending a year abroad allowed my skill set to widen greatly, including: patience and discipline, creative problem solving, language skills, attention to detail, deeper listening, leadership, adaptability, and self-reliance. Arriving in France for the first time, I had very little knowledge of the french language and would not meet my host families or fellow students until the arrival. Learning to communicate with new people who don't speak the same language allowed me to gain such a skill set, as well as a B2 level of french language.
