Serves as a mate (pilot) of towing vessels powered by diesel engines in inland waters. Experienced in maneuvering the vessel in a variety of climates, tides, currents, and wave action. Made recommendations for repairs and diagnosed problems on the vessels. Completes, maintains, and organizes logbooks for all vessels operated. Able to make mooring lines, messenger lines, and heaving lines. Completed U.S. Coast Guard approved first aid and CPR.
