The project involved people from the Department of Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Soil and Water Extension Office and parents.
Teach chemistry, biology and earth science using an inquiry based curriculum to 130-140 students. Implemented differentiated lessons and science-based reading and writing strategies that are in-line with the common core standards. Collaborated with other eighth grade science teachers to create common formative and summative assessments; collected and compared data; and discussed best practices. The Adviser for the Windsor House Student Council where I guided students in organizing "House" activities and events. Help coordinate the cross-curricular "Wild West" unit throughout the 8th grade. Organize and conduct a river quality study of the Willow River which involves St. Croix County Soil and Water Extension, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Department of Natural Resources, Willow River State Park, and parents. Students conduct the study, analyze data from current year and previous years and produce a professional lab write-up. Adviser to Radical Recyclers student club and supervisor for student-driven recycling program. Member of several district committees such as R-3(Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), Science Curriculum, Environmental, School Forest, Assessment and Data and Standards-Based Report Cards.
