My resume reflects the fact that not only have I taught for a number of years, but I also have taught a wide range of subjects and ages. In each job I have grown and learned valuable lessons that continue to shape my career goals. Since 2003, I have both worked and taken some time between having children. I have spent this time working part time and volunteering in the community teaching PE programs to young children in pre-kindergarten through grade 8, teaching yoga and meditation to adults who have a variety of needs, teaching a class for our Youth Faith Formation organization, planning 5k races for various organizations, coaching soccer for the city league, acting as assistant junior high track coach to local school, serving on my church's pastoral council, and serving on the school board of our local private school.
I have been a teacher since 1990 and have grown to become very passionate about providing the absolute best education for all children. I have taught every grade from prekindergarten through eighth grade. While staying home and raising our family, I completed a master's degree in Curriculum Development and Instruction from Mc Kendree University. With my degree, I took the opportunity to develop a physical education program for Early Childhood Education; and a yoga program for Community Link residents, as well as seniors living in a local assisted living center . These experiences have helped to expand and develop my knowledge in adapting curriculum to meet the many diverse needs of our educable populations.
Currently, I am pursuing a certification in the practice of yoga focusing on young children and seniors ( and adapting routines for adults with special needs). My experiences and class requirements at Mc Kendree University opened my eyes to the potential and gratification in helping populations who may not be as capable of voicing their needs. I was given a chance to spend time at Siblings and Company, Community Link, and the Legacy Place, all located in Breese, Illinois. I had, and continue to have, wonderful and meaningful experiences at each facility.
Service to others is the highest calling. I have been blessed with multiple opportunities to spend time with some of the most special people in the world. Although it is a small contribution, I teach PE, yoga, and meditation to improve mental, physical, and emotional health. Helping others to see the importance staying active, flexible, and positive can improve their quality of life. We also laugh quite a bit. Laughter is one of the best natural medicines, and I make it a part of every class.
I would love to use my knowledge and talents to help others achieve successful, fulfilling and happy lives. I feel I could be an asset to your team.
