Extremely Detail-oriented and competent, AMT certified Medical Laboratory Technician with extensive experience in blood donor center operations, with experience in a toxicology chemistry lab.
I joined the US Army in Oct 2006 with the MOS 68K- Medical Lab Specialist. Upon completion of basic training I attended training as a Medical Lab Tech.
While I worked for the Center For Disease Detection I was then selected as an alternate to deploy to Kosovo. I received additional training in various sections of the lab in field laboratories (Tents and Metal Containers.) I was then selected to mobilize to Fort Gordon, GA at Kendrick Memorial Blood Center. Where I was on military orders for approximately 3 years. Following Fort Gordon I was sent on military orders to Fort Hood, TX to work at Robertson Blood Center for 1 year. Finishing that set of orders i was then placed on the current set of orders bringing me back to Fort Gordon, GA working back at Kendrick Memorial Blood Center.
During my time in various locations I have shown my quick learning ability and desire to improve any process I perform and feel I will be a valuable asset to any team.
American Medical Technologist - Medical Lab Technician
I was brought back to Fort Gordon on military orders as the supervisor of Component Blood Processing. Including all donor center operations typically performed, I was tasked with and succeeded with improving the apheresis sections platelet production testing including: Raw Counts, residuals and blood cultures. Additional processes included the installation and validation of centrifuges, additional freezers and validation of shipping containers.
During my time at Robertson Blood Center, while performing the typical duties of all the donor center operations. I provided process improvement through both improvement of various forms and physical processes, Including: QC forms and temperature monitoring forms, etc. Increased the production of various products to better manage the inventory. Improved processes for freezing and storing products to conserve freezer life and satisfactory temperature while in use. I also provided and lead the startup of the production of frozen non-injectable plasma to help financially support the purchase of incentive items.
I was placed in a supervisory role of processing all the whole blood collected from our blood drives. Familiar with creating FFP, Plasma frozen within 24 hours, Liquid Recovered plasma and pRBCs. Scheduled all soldiers placed into my section. I also successfully trained all personnel placed into the section. I have been thoroughly trained and have ample experience in all aspects of Blood Donor Center operations including: Lot Release, Processing, Donor Interviewing, Finger Sticks and Vitals, Pre-Screening, Phlebotomy and donor registration. I also have been trained in Apheresis processing including preparing and ordering Blood Cultures, blood counts using the BC A.ct Diff analyzer. Improved procedures and SOPs increasing overall productivity and product recovery dramatically.
I provided quality drug testing results to our clients. Starting with a basic qualitative result on a Hitachi 747 chemistry analyzer. Followed by, quantitative results through the GC/MS method on all positive results.
I cross-trained and worked in the hematology section analyzing and staining blood smears, also using an A.ct Diff Analyzer to perform CBCs.
I also trained and worked with a GenProbe analyzer testing for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Successfully trained my replacements prior to my leaving on military orders.
