A teaching position at the middle school or high school level in the life sciences. I wish to utilize my passion and creativity for teaching students, as well as my subject knowledge and pedagogical skills to positively impact student learning and development.
I taught the second semester of the sophomore biology curriculum to a class of approximately twenty five students. I utilized a variety of teaching methods to successfully implement: lectures, labs, activities, and assesments into the classroom.
My responsibilities include working with students with intellectual and emotional disabilities, and assisting them with their school work and daily tasks. I am primarily assigned with students in science classrooms, but I have aided in several different genres.
After a week of classroom observation, I took control of five sophomore biology classes. I presented my own lessons, and developed my own assessments and labs. I was able to work with a wide variety of students, as well as modify assignments/assessments/labs for students under IEP's. I attended two parent teacher conferences and several faculty meetings. I also observed several middle school science classrooms.
I spent thirty hours in a middle school life science classroom. I observed many lessons and filled out observation reports. I taught two labs and two lessons, one of which was observed by my university professor. I assisted in grading papers, and helped students with their daily activities.
I observed several AP biology and anatomy classrooms. I filled out observation reports, and assisted students with their coursework. I used technology such as a smart board to administer a quiz and notes. A large portion of the time was spent assisting students with lab work.
I observed daily classroom procedures in a chemistry classroom, and observed parent teacher conferences. I taught two lessons on noble gases, as well as assisted students with coursework after lessons were completed by the mentor teacher.
