I have had random babysitting/nannying jobs since I was thirteen. I've worked at my church nurseries and preschool rooms, doing both volunteer and paid work. I have been an assistant teacher for a preschool classroom at DaySpring School of the Arts for one year, so I have some experience in early childhood education. I am currently nannying/cleaning for my sister part-time. She has four kids, ages: 4, 3, 1, and 6wks. I have cleaned houses since I was twelve, and I have a few house cleaning jobs I keep up with now. I have always loved children a lot, and thoroughly enjoy spending time with them!
For a whole summer I worked every week day from 8:45-3 or 5:30 with kids from ages 4-17, but I worked primarily with 7&8 year olds. Together with one other counselor, I was responsible over a group of approx. 16-20+ kids. We came up with daily activities: Games, Arts & Crafts, Active Activities, Sports, Educational Activities, etc.
We were looked up to by the kids, and tried to be very up-beat, fun, encouraging, silly, respectful, etc.
I fell in love with my amazing group of kids!
This was a summer job at my local pool when I was sixteen. I was responsible to clean up in the concessions area, keep my work area in the stand clean, make sure everything was well stocked, and closing out the cash register at the end of the day. It was a whole lot of fun, and I loved working with people!
I currently work every Tuesday morning at Destiny Church in childcare for anywhere from 15-20+ kids. I make sure everyone is getting along, pass out coloring materials and snacks, and just play and dance with them. It has been fun building relationships with the kids over the weeks!
I attended a one year program of the Bible University at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri. I continued on as full-time staff for another year, and also traveled a lot with TheCall Ministry with Lou Engle throughout that year, and was part of a team of young adults that traveled to cities where the large stadium gathering was to be held to be a part of nightly prayer meetings, speaking at churches, evangelizing, and mobilizing for 21-40 days before the prayer gathering. It was an amazing experience! This was overall from Fall 2010-Spring 2012.
I went to a 2 1/2 month Missionary Training School with Iris Ministries, which was founded by Heidi and Rolland Baker. I was one of 270+ students from 27 different nations. We attended daily classes, helped serve on the missions base in various ways, and served weekly in the Village Kids Discipleship program with hundreds of kids. In this program, I acted out Bible skits, played games with the kids, prayed for them, played with them, and help distribute food at the end. I also went on two weekend outreaches with small teams to poor, remote bush-bush villages and we showed a Jesus film, and prayed for the sick, and walked from hut to hut sharing the gospel. This was an incredible, life-changing experience that I am very thankful for!
