Duties and responsibilities include the following: Implementation of evidence based prevention programs for youth and young adults in various settings. Maintain and disseminate drug abuse prevention literature. Present information on the effects of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in various settings. Collaborate with multiple agencies to stimulate community awareness in the prevention of substance abuse problems by hosting and sponsoring various community wide events. Conduct merchant education trainings pertaining to tobacco and alcohol products. Act as chairperson for agency's prevention coalition by conducting quarterly meetings. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to prevention. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within community agencies, fellow workers, and the general public. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized records and other required documents. Prepare clear and concise written reports on prevention activities. Research and collect current data and trends pertaining to substance abuse.
Provided psychosocial services to adult members with mental health issues. Helped clients adjust to their social environment by assisting them in achieving their social integration goals. Assisted clients in learning skills for independent living. Intervened in crisis situations. Facilitated group therapy to promote mental health awareness and assist clients on their journey to recovery. Provided job training skills by assisting members in job search and mock interviews. Along with staff and members, planned weekly recreational social outings.
