To teach engaging art lessons to students prekindergarten through twelfth grade.My goal is to teach lessons with strong connections to enduring ideas such as interdependence, power, and community.
For both of the placements the first week of the clinical internship began by learning the culture and procedures of the school and observing the cooperating teacher. Then gradually over the course of the next two weeks some of the cooperating teachers classes are taken over, the students finished lessons they began with the cooperating teachers. Then during the next four weeks all of the cooperating teachers classes are given to the student teacher. During the eighth and last week the responsibilities were, finishing lessons and returning the classes back to the cooperating teacher.
Teaching students from kindergarten to ninth grade contemporary art lessons. The responsibilities were for planning lessons that gave the students a chance to use interesting art making techniques such as bookmaking, multiple color reduction block printmaking, and experimental environmental performance art. Also once a week during a the three week long camp session there was setting up for an exhibition of the student's artwork.
Teaching a sewing and craft class at LaVilla Arts Summer Camp and setting up a weekly exhibition of the work the children did in the class. Other responsibilities were taking the children on weekly field trips to the downtown public library and monitoring children during recess and evening extended day care.
Virginia Commonwealth University work-study job, Assisting Caroline Cobb Wright, Director of Exhibition Programming at the Visual Arts Center. Creating art educational content and activities for children visiting the museum. Other duties included, sending out information via email, canvasing the neighborhood with information on up coming gallery events and gallery maintenance such pedestal cleaning and wall cleaning and preparation.
Reference was a gallery space rented by VCUarts students during their matriculation at VCU. Responsibilities included,reception work, cleaning the gallery space, and opening and closing the gallery twice a week.
