  • Worked directly with Marine Corps leadership to implement a sweeping policy change to the way fleet vehicles are identified in all systems.
  • I presented a methodology based on intelligent description over numeric grouping.
  • This method required the identification of the criteria that the Marine Corps Installation Command (MCICOM), Fleet Managers, and everyday users would find important.
  • Over the course of 2 years I was able to negotiate buy-in from all key stakeholders for these descriptive criteria.
  • The format, in line with other DoD agencies and policies, was presented in FY12 and has been widely accepted as a more efficient and useful way to describe the Garrison Mobile Equipment (GME) fleet.
  • Data quality, inventory management, and reporting continue to show improvements as a result (SYSANALYSIS)/(APPSW)/(DATAMGT).
  • Developed and maintained Crystal Reports to extract detailed Fleet Management System (FMS) performance metrics, including an automated report for MCICOM/GME Fleet compliance to Executive Order 13514 (10/5/2009), which establishes reduced petroleum usage quantities for all government fleets.
  • As a result, MCICOM gained visibility to fleet fuel consumption quantities and was able to manage their targets to meet compliancy (PLCYPLN)/(SYSANALYSIS)/(APPSW)/(DATAMGT).

  • These reviews help to ensure that the Marine Corps is getting the best valued solution based on mission completeness, functional ability, system flexibility for growth, and cost.
  • Participating in these reviews help to identify strengths and weaknesses of the current FMS.
  • I used these reviews as an opportunity to suggest improvements or create solutions directly for MCICOM for a more complete fleet management environment I was involved in hosting vendors to reviewed products and systems for fuel and mileage automation, requested the purchase of third party software to identify the GME fleet though Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) validation in a cost effective manner, created an automated report, saving 100s of man-hours, to feed annual fleet activity to Congress through the Federal Automotive Statistical Tool (FAST), and gathered requirements for a tool to electronically track all activity related to the assignment of vehicle registration and license plate numbers (SYSANALYSIS)/(APPSW)/(DATAMGT).
