I began at the end of my first semester in college as a beat writer covering Men's Track and Field for CM Life. After covering this beat for a few months, I was moved up to be responsible for Softball. The following year I decided that I would try my hand at hard news and switched to the University desk where I was responsible for the College of Science and Technology as well as the College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences. At the beginning of this year, I strove to earn one of two senior reporter positions for the University desk and achieved this within the first two months. I have been a senior reporter since and have additionally covered the Wrestling team. Recently, I have been told that I am the main candidate to replace the current Sports Editor and will take that position at the beginning of second semester.

Much of what was done new to me and had to be learned quickly and efficiently.
Duties involved beyond officiating duties for Little League baseball and included interaction with community members, as well as problem solving between conflicting parties. It was important to learn to be an impartial and objective force who communicated clearly and with authority.
