Shop Tech/ Equipment Loader Heavy Equipment OperatorPlant Site Logistics, INC. - Davenport, IA
  • Plant Site Logistics (PSL) is a third party logistics (3PL) company developed to satisfy the needs of customers who see the benefits of outsourcing their transportation functions to a 3PL.
  • At PSL Davenport they take care of all the logistics for the forestry and construction equipment at John Deere Davenports Works.
  • At PSL there are for the most part two separate sides of operation.
  • One is the Shop Tech side and the other is the Equipment Loading (Dock) side which I will detail more below.
  • Shop Tech: One of the primary duties is the preparing of equipment for rental customers like Sunbelt, United and Hertz which almost always includes the following.
  • Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) - ex.
  • Fluids, time all hydraulic functions and RPM's etc.
  • Lojack Install- I am CERTIFIDED by Lojack to install anti theft recovery equipment deep into the particular unit which involves significant break down of the unit and install then put back together.
  • Bucket, Coupler and Thumb Install- 12", 18"and 24"bucket installs and with a thumb hydraulic hose assembly and routing is required.
  • Decal Install- sometimes decals need removed then rental customer's decals installed.
  • Another regular duty of a Shop Tech is what we call a (Less Wheel) which involves using lift straps around the axles of large equipment attaching to massive two beam OVER HEAD CRANE lifting up removal of tires with large impact wrench then machine placement on semi trailer with tires stacked in doubles.
  • Another duty is what is called the DROP, which is going a half mile to the factory and getting all the equipment released for the day and bringing them back to our main yard.
  • Lastly it not one of my primary duties but have done what we call RAIL.
  • Which is putting various large equipment mainly large excavators two at a time on rail cars in side are facility and extensively chaining them down for distant deliveries.
  • Equipment Loading (DOCK): The primary duty is the loading of equipment on semi trailers for shipment throughout the whole work day.
  • The larger units are loaded outside on a detached lowboy trailer and the rest are loaded in the enclosed dock area.
  • Also mini excavators need to be unloaded from containers three to four units/per.
  • LIST OF JOHN DEERE EQUIPMENT OPERATED AND LOAD DAILY: MINI EXAVATORS:.

SupervisorPlant Site Logistics, INC Craig Ridgley - Davenport, IA.
02/1992 to 04/2011
Supervisor Centerless Grinder OperatorUniparts Olsen - Eldridge, IA
  • LIST OF JOHN DEERE EQUIPMENT OPERATED AND LOADED RANDOMLY: SKIDSTEER LOADERS: Both wheel and track all sizes some ex.
  • 328D-333D, DOZERS: 350J-450J-650J-750J, EXAVATORS: 180LC-250LC-350LC-390LC and several models of tractor loader backhoes and gators.
  • Lastly I am an EXPERINCED FORKLIFT OPERATOR that operates several forklifts (Hyster 100, Hyster 150 and Selick 150 (off road) on a daily basis.
  • Whether is stacking massive oversized tires and loading them on semi trailers or loading loose oversized buckets or getting a bucket for an install.
  • One thing is for sure I am always on a forklift moving something around daily.
  • CONCLUSION: The most important skill that I have obtained from working at PSL is the fact that I am very comfortable with and around heavy equipment.
  • Yes the big heart pumping thrill is gone and now whatever the task is I just do it with full confidence in my acquired skills in ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS.
  • Uniparts Olsen is a company that primarily manufactures and supplies pivot pins as well as all other kinds of parts to the agricultural and construction equipment industries.
  • My first year I worked as a saw operator cutting up tubing.
  • The second and third years I specialized in making just two parts, Case and John Deere reel arms.
  • Both required many holes to be drilled and then bent, sanded to pallet.
  • For the last fifteen years I was specialized as a centerless grinder operator who's only procedure in the pin production process is the grinding of the outside diameter of the pin to a specific size with tolerances for the most part +-.0003 or smaller.
  • For at least the last ten years or so I achieved recognition as a top level producer.
  • Thus my primary job in the department was to produce all the much more difficult large pins with diameters from 3.000" to 5.100"and weights from 40# to 118#.
  • I was considered a master operator because I almost never ran scrap and could run any and all work orders given to me with literally no problems what so ever.
  • SPECIAL SKILLS: *10 years operating large and small forklifts and some side loader experience.
  • General handling of half box crates racks of unfinished/finished goods and up to 40# bundles of tubing.
  • Loaded and unloaded trucks.
  • Was the backup lead man and was responsible for first piece inspection at times.
  • Thus used and am familiar with equipment like Rockwell hardness test, surface finish test, dial indicator to check roundness and straightness as well as micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Naturally I am an expert with a manual centerless grinder but I have ran many different types of manual production equipment like Saws, Big South Bend Drills, Bending Machines, Pea and Glass Blasters, Shakers, Gun Drills, etc.
  • NOTE: Not a CNC operator.
  • CERTIFICATES: Eastern Iowa Community College- Basic blueprint reading 30.0 clock hours 12/20/1995 Quad City Testing Laboratory Inc.
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection 4.0 clock hours 01/31/2002.
