I performed specialized repairs on vehicles maintained by Fleet Services. Specializing in fire apparatus trucks, ambulances, SWAT vehicles and ARFF (aircraft rescue fire fighting )trucks. Types of repairs included engine repairs, automatic transmissions, axles, suspension/steering, brakes(air hydraulic),electrical/electronic systems, heating/air conditioning, engine performance, gas/diesel engines, drive trains and hydraulic systems. My duties included work assignments given to me by my supervisors and manager. I also performed lead technician duties by assigning job duties and tasks. I also updated and control work flow of the service center. The decisions included work related questions about vehicles being serviced in the shop. I filled in as acting supervisor when needed. I also provided guidance and assistance to all others who are in need of help with repairs. I helped with training the younger technicians and internship technicians to become more knowledgeable about their job. I took on the role of leadership by filling in for the Supervisor on a consistent basis. With the training given to me thru the City of Austin it was my responsibility to pass this knowledge on to all others. This knowledge makes the shop grow in so many different ways. The courses that the City of Austin has sent me includes a brake course, electrical course, transmission course, hydraulic course, air bag course and steering course has helped me obtained knowledge to do my job. The ASE master certifications and EVT master certification have help me to be more knowledgeable to do my job in the automotive field. Learning how to work with others to accomplish a task at hand is something that I use on a daily bases .
