I was charged with building a new product engineering team to specify and direct the manufacturing test process content for Micron's fledgling Solid State Drive division. I staffed the team to 15 engineers, in 3 locations: Boise (ID), Longmont (CO) and Singapore. This team innovated several patented technologies, centered on leveraging Micron's knowledge of the core components of SSDs: NAND (flash) and DRAM memories. While drive capacities moved from 120GB to over 16 TB, we were able to reduce test times to 1/10th of what they were when I started at Micron. I quickly gained a reputation for hiring and successfully leading exceptional talent, encouraging innovation, coaching future leaders and inspiring personal and professional growth.
I had the privilege of assisting companies such as Seagate, AM General, and Boeing as well as several much smaller companies. I led their teams through the process of change, using principles of lean or agile manufacturing and engineering as a catalyst.
Co-founder of StratoTech Corporation, a consulting firm which helps businesses implement lean methods to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Led five groups, totaling 110 individuals. My initiatives in these groups resulted in the streamlining of Maxtor's disk drive test process. I set the specifications for the new test hardware, and the new test software, and then managed the organization to fulfill these new requirements while maintaining the status quo during implementation. We achieved a 50% reduction in test time, while also gaining approximately 70% better test coverage with the new system versus the old.
Directed development of relational database for all manufacturing test data
Led 40 person product development team to successful development of a new storage device.
Led 300+ Automotive R&D organization to a 100% increase in productivity.
Was the Lean Systems leader for aerospace team of nearly 300 engineers.
Guest lecturer on lean systems at Colorado State University, Metro State College and Washington State University.
Held Top Secret clearance for 5 years in the Air Force, as an Operating Systems expert on the AWACS aircraft.
Held Top Secret clearance for over 2.5 years for work done at Boeing.
