I have a 20 year old Uncle who has Down syndrome whom I have helped care for since his birth.
Over the years I have been a huge part of his life, as he is in mine.
As an FCCLA Star Event Project, I worked in the elementary special education classroom with him and his classmates to teach them how to prepare nutritious snacks.
My project made it to State Star Events.
I work very close with him and my grandparents to help him with his daily needs.
From the time I entered elementary school I had two classmates with developmental disabilities which have played a big factor of me wanting to help others with developmental disabilities.
