Currently a 6th grade science teacher at Rickover Jr. High, School District 168. I have been teaching at Rickover for 6 years now, and actually started out as a full-time substitute as the health teacher from April 2007 to June 2007. I enjoy working with the faculty, staff, and of course the students. I feel very privileged to be able to teach all of my students, and I am very interested in using techniques such as differentiation and inquiry based science techniques in order to engage students and encourage them to learn. I am also very active in the science department, in particular, I enjoy helping out with extracurricular activities. Currently, I teach the forensic science club, the aviation club, Young Eagles monthly Saturday outings to Gary Airport, and the Challenger science club. During the 2010-2011 school year, I worked on implementing RTI in our school. I headed up the academic intervention committee and helped conduct valuable research in the area of academic interventions. My position is very demanding and rewarding, and pushes me to be the best educator I can be.
During the summer of 2007 and 2008, I served as s summer school teacher for School District #168, as a 7th grade language arts teacher. I have adopted a research based curriculum strategy designed to prepare students to enter into the 7th grade and succeed in language arts. During the summer of 2009 and 2010, I taught math successfully using the Pinpoint Math curriculum to help struggling students. I used the positive reinforcement method to redirect poor behavior. I conducted small group and individual classroom activities with students based on differentiated learning needs.
Served as a substitute teacher for District #102 in LaGrange, Illinois, which includes 4 elementary schools and one Junior High. I have taught kindergarten up to 8th grade, including math, science, social studies, language arts and special education. I enjoyed this work tremendously and believe this experience has helped me in my full-time teaching career. I also believe that this has given me a well-rounded background and ability to teach all types of students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Coordinated the programming of a six-site day program and the ordering and purchasing of educational supplies and materials for a staff of 75 developmental training specialists. Designed and implemented a program and curriculum for 30 individuals with disabilities and 4 staff which promoted great variety and quality of vocational and educational activities. Coordinated and helped develop a training program to help staff become more proficient in advanced teaching techniques that incorporated both educational and vocational curriculum.

Worked as a Jet Engine Technician for the 126th Air Refueling Wing of the Illinois Air National Guard. Attended NCO school and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before being Honorably Discharged in 1992. Became full-time active duty during Operation Desert Storm in July and August of 1990.
