English student and aspiring professor with knowledge in customer service, Microsoft Office, and sales. The extent of my English training and basic educational knowledge gained from my time at Texas Woman's University, and my motivation to become a teaching professional pushes me to strive for success in any opportunity that will help me obtain my academic and professional goals.
I was awarded the honor of being accepted into Texas Woman's University's Omega Rho Alpha English Honor Society in 2014. I was also on the Chancellor's List for the Spring 2014 semester for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. Recently I have been asked to join Sigma Tau Delta, which is the national level English Honor Society as well as being asked to run for the President of the society.
At Boston Proper I am responsible for maintaining customer service, selling, and clerical/stocking duties. During my time at Boston Proper I have been awarded with having the top sales for periods of time. Boston Proper has taught me how to be effective in my communication to customers as well as being an emphatic listener. In order to maintain a high level of customer service it is imperative to listen to a customer and be able to help them with anything they may require. Boston Proper has also taught me great organization skills by helping with stocking and maintaining an effective schedule between school and work.
During my time at Gap, Inc., I was responsible for sales, maintaining an orderly and clean store, as well as visual and clerical duties. At Gap it was necessary to know how to use several different computer programs in order to create shipments, make sales, and create a schedule. The computer programs I used gave me a well-rounded knowledge of several different types of technology and innovations that could be helpful for creating a schedule for a classroom. Also, working in visuals at Gap helped give me a sense of creativity and critical thinking that will also be useful in the classroom and when making lesson plans.
Working at It's A Grind during high school helped me to learn how to be an effective scheduler, and how to create an effective balance between my professional and academic goals. I was able to move up at this company from a cashier to a barista, where I was then in charge of training any new hires. This training experience has given me knowledge on how to effectively communicate and relay important messages to those being trained. This work as a trainer helped me to get a better understanding of what needs to be done in the classroom in order to help students succeed.
During my time at Texas Woman's University I have obtained many successes and achievements. I am an English major with a History minor and plan to get certified as a teacher after graduation, and then move on to graduate school in order to reach my goal of becoming a college professor. I have been a member of the Omega Rho Alpha English Honor Society as well as being on the Chancellor's list for maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I am currently in the process of being accepted into Sigma Tau Delta, the national level of the English honor society, and have been asked to run for president of the chapter. I am focusing on British Literature and want to pass on my knowledge and passion for this subject to my future students in hopes of inspiring them.
I attended Tarrant County College after graduating high school. At this university I chose to become a professor and major in English. My time at Tarrant Count College taught my how to be ready for the university level and how to manage a balance of school and work.
