My entire life has revolved around the agriculture industry. I grew up watching my grandfather on his farm, later getting the opportunity to help. This led to a dream of operating my own farm one day. I have been blessed with the opportunity and ability to purchase acres and cattle of my own through hard work and strong faith. Through beginning my own farm and joining agricultural based organizations, I have learned many things and understand the importance of agriculture to both our local community and the entire world. I think that it is very important to educate the next generation about how it is more than a pitchfork and overalls. As President of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau, I have learned about the government side of agriculture and how to help others prepare for the future, good or bad. Today, I row crop 800 acres, raise 100 calving cows, work part-time as a City Police Officer, and hold the position as Flannigan Township Road Commissioner. All of these positions require good communication, the ability to quickly resolve tough problems, and being a good team member.
The past four years I have been on the Hamilton County Farm Bureau Board three years of that I have been President. As president I have helped regenerate community involvement by the County Farm Bureau through donating monetarily to different events and hosting more informational meetings for the members. This year we organized a sanctioned tractor pull at the county fair with the intensions of funding a scholarship for a Ag related Associates Degree. In this position I have overseen the the contract negotiations of our manager. Being involved in the Farm Burea has helped me gain networking with other farmers around the state and build many relationships with people in the Agriculture industry.
Out side of Ag I have been a deacon at the church we attend in McLeansboro for three years and have had many experiences helping congregational members. I have overseen the the hiring of pastoral staff. In this position I have helped with yearly evaluations of staff and dealt with concerns of the membership.
