Having worked in fashion retail for the past five years, I now desire to follow a career path in fashion design, buying and styling. As a result of my fashion retail background, I have excellent natural sales ability. My roles at RUBY and other retail companies have further developed this through giving me practical experience with achieving sales targets, calculating multi sale rate of all store staff, liaising with the sales manager, product knowledge and stock control.
I am a natural leader and have a flair for staff motivation and retention. I have solid experience in a firm but friendly approach to staff training and coaching and have a strong conviction that the quality and passion of staff can make or break sales targets and I therefore take staff management very seriously.
I am organized and responsible and have experience with the practical aspects of managing all budget requirements, timely and accurate reporting, banking, opening and closing of store and the general administration tasks that fashion retail requires. These skills can easily be adapted to other environments; I am able to hit the ground running and will pick things up easily.
My Bachelor of Design has given me competence in the areas of pattern making, construction and fashion design as well as Digital Print Design, CAD and Fashion Theory. These skills culminated in an award winning final collection, my designs being selected for AUT University's Rookie 2012 show as well as being featured in magazines such as New Zealand's premier style publication, Fashion Quarterly magazine. My graduate collection was also picked up and represented by NZ's leading fashion PR company Showroom 22, who represents labels such as Karen Walker.
