As a Receptionist, I learned very quickly how to accomadate a lot of people with very differing attitudes and opinions. My main job required me to keep the clients happy, explain to them our pricing and packages, as well as sell our hair and body products. I learned how to time manage and clean while on the job. I learned how to deal with many clients lined up to be checked out as well as answering the phone in the midst. At the end of every shift, it was my job to balance the drawer of money and make sure the credit card machine was batched out. It was my responsibility to find any mistakes when the money was off balanced or the credit card machine was not correct. This forced me to be very careful but in an efficient way as to not keep clients waiting. This job really helped me become a people person and communicate effectively and start meaningful conversations with others. I enjoyed getting close with all of the stylists and it was a great environment.
Being a cashier I gained even more experience working with people and also money. I not only was a cashier but also worked on the floor directing customers to where certain supplies was and being friendly to everyone who walked in. I had to quickly and correctly check customers out when Ace got busy and only 2 of us worked at the front cashier stands. This job took my out of my comfort zone due to the environment and new things I needed to learn but it made me so much more willing to try many other new fields I had not shown interest in before.
I graduated from Clarkston High School in 2014 and played Clarkston Varsity Softball for 4 years during that time.
I am currently here at Michigan State University planning to become an Occupational Therapist so therefore setting my major as Kinesiology. Michigan State has a beautiful campus and so much around it making it one of the best schools to go to. I am currently taking a Math course, Abnormal Psychology, a Literature class focusing on race and identities and a Human Development in Families class. I love the courses I am in right now and cannot wait to further my studies here.
I went to Central Michigan my freshman year hoping it would be a nice transition from High School, which it was. The amount of people there made it feel like College but the campus is very central only stretching a mile from one end to the other making it very convenient. I studied Biology there and really enjoyed my time. I knew that going there first would help with my transition when I came to Michigan State.
During my High School Softball season the team went to soup kitchens and packed lunches for the less fortunate. I also picked up garbage off the side of the road as another one of our activities. Those things were real eye openers for me, to really get a chance to put yourself in others shoes was important to realize how blessed I am. I love volunteering and am planning on going to an animal shelter because I am such an animal lover.
I can handle money, am very professional and friendly as well as careful and able to multi-task. I am an active listener, personable and outgoing. I am very familiar with Microsoft Word/Powerpoint/Excel.
After working as a Receptionist for 3 years and a Cashier for 4 months I am more than comfortable conversing with people and getting jobs done effectively and efficiently.
