Established a part-time, two-person satellite office of a Columbia, SC based non-profit foundation serving six SC counties. Responsibilities included: identification and coordination of opportunities for multi-partner projects in the areas of the Foundation mission (historic preservation, conservation, and trail development) and dissemination of information and membership solicitation including public speaking, press release and mailing preparation, and provision of education and technical assistance to citizens and governmental entities. Specific accomplishments included initial research for development of regional trail plan and establishment of the Florence Rail-Trail Committee and procurement of $450,000 in grants for a targeted Florence area trail project.
Research and planning projects in Florence County, SC and seven incorporated areas within the County. Specific responsibilities included: coordination and preparation of comprehensive plan for county; provision of technical expertise in areas of responsibility to other planners, governmental entities, and citizens including flood plain identification and management; service as census liaison to the county; and research, interpretation and enforcement of subdivision development and other land use regulations; conduction of field inspections and evaluations in response to requests and complaints and preparation of staff reports to the Planning Commission.
Performed professional planning duties for the County and the municipality of Springfield, IL and other jurisdictions as contracted. Specific duties included: city and county subdivision review, provision of technical assistance to requests concerning subdivision and other land division regulations; comprehensive land use planning including the physical survey of land use, research and analysis of data (participated in the creation of the land use plan for Chatham, IL and the update of plans for Springfield and Williamsville, IL.); compilation and analysis of U.S. Census data and responding to requests for demographic information; research and planning for development of a countywide greenway and trail plan; maintenance of Neighborhood Association Program contact list and map; development of a process for street name changes and responding to inquiries to change street names; responding to requests for flood plain information; and updating both City and County Government Guides.
Responsibilities included insurance underwriting risk management for two or more sales districts (50+ agents) for the purpose of improving growth and profit objectives for new and in-force personal lines of insurance. Progressed from underwriter trainee to district underwriter in 13 months. Received Allstate's Good Hands Award for outstanding job performance in 1980. Received District Quarterly Underwriting and Texas Underwriter of the Year awards in 1983 for outstanding job performance. Completed Insurance Institute of America courses and Dale Carnegie Course (named outstanding student).
Responsibilities with this five county, state-designated region included providing technical assistance and information to communities in qualifying for state and federal grants and assistance. Conducted economic research, grant application preparation, and the compilation of state and federal laws and programs in booklet form for use by local government officials. Published the "Economic Development Administration Program Guide" for 1976.
Assisted the director of this city government department in preparing presentations aimed at attracting business and industry to the city.
