degree from Knox College allowed for a rounded understanding of a variety of fields. I have taken
technology advancement courses, quantitative literacy courses, and business
courses at Knox, all of which I believe have contributed to and diversified my knowledge and character as a young professional.
I am a very quick learner and I am driven by the overall success of a company
and my peers.
English Literature, Journalism, Photography2010Singapore American SchoolSingapore, SingaporeI attended the Singapore American School (SAS) and received my High School Diploma with a specialty in English Literature, Creative writing, and Journalism, and Photogrphy. Furthermore, SAS, like Knox, provided each alumni with a well-rounded and multifaceted education. This gave me the ability to be well-versed in many fields and subjects as I continue to challenge myself to be versatile in any and all jobs.
When I graduated High School and left Singapore for Knox College, balancing work, studies, and sleep was challenging. None of which held me back. I was determined and applied for an on campus job as an Art class Model.
I think that defines my approach to work. I don't like to be held back and I don't like to prove myself wrong. I'm a hard worker. I define a person by the drive and passion they put into their job, and I'd like to consider myself a person with a lot of drive and passion for the work that I do.

This job was for Knox College's new art building. This job required a multitude of tasks, many of which were moving art supplies from the old to the new. However, my main project was for 26 12'/2'/6' art storage units for students work. They needed to be framed, hung with drywall, needed corner beads, mudded, sanded, and painted.

Painter, plaster/drywall mud work, texturing06/2016 to 08/2016Knox College Maintenancerebarry@firstname.lastname@example.orgGalesburg, IL
When I returned to Knox College the summer of 2016, I worked for Knox College's maintenance crew as a remodeler and painter for the summer. They hire students as part of a program to provide them with jobs to pay for their education. When I mentioned to the hiring manager, Mr. Pendergast, of my two years experience remodeling and painting, he was more than happy to take me on as an employee. The rest of the students were usually in charge of painting, but often I was in charge of drywall repair, refurbishing, and I was also granted the position of management during projects that required an experienced leader. I would direct, lead, and guide groups of 4-6 people in projects that they had no prior experience.

Prep cook, "Sandwich Artist"06/2008 to 08/2008SubwaySingapore, Singapore
This was a summer job during the summer break from High School, and my first "real" job, but easily one of the most important jobs I've ever had. This was the first job that truly showed me how important work ethic is and how important it is to work hard, even if you don't necessarily love what you do.
Employers name has to be omitted as management has changed. However, I have provided the address and number of the establishment in case my name is still on file.

One day on my job with American Builders, my boss had to leave to get supplies, but forgot that we needed to start applying drywall mud immediately, or the project would've been set back a few days. Knowing he would be gone a while, I decided to take the initiative, and with no experience in working with drywall mud or corner beads, other than seeing him do it while I paint another room, I got to work. I finished by the time my boss had returned and as he was running up the stairs he yelled "Sh*t, Mackenzie I forgot to do the mu..." He stood in shock as he saw that the entire interior and exterior or the bathroom had been mudded. He told me I did two men's work by myself and actually bought us more time on the job.
On another day my boss had to run to another job site, we had about a whole day's worth of painting to do, with the work of two men. I decided I'd at least get started, and without even realizing, 4 hours had passed and I had finished the job myself.
