Dear Hiring Manager, As a Project Engineer at Skanska, I have been exposed to an array of projects from finishes to earthwork. With a civil engineering background in college, I have always been particularly drawn to shoring, excavation and concrete pouring. Being in the field rather than in the office allows me to understand what I had studied so hard for to obtain my B.S. in civil and has spurred me on to pursue my Professional Engineering license.
What particularly strikes me about working in Skanska Civil, is that it will give me additional exposure and experience in the field and civil engineering. I have enjoyed my time so far in Skanska Building, but would like exposure in the field and I believe that Skanska Civil is the place to gain experience in the field. At Skanska building I have applied myself at LAX by writing RFIs, preparing submittals and have tracked off-haul tickets. At Neutrogena I compared the work performed in the field to the actual proposal from subcontractors on the project, peer reviewed submittals and wrote RFIs.
As a worker I have strong time management skills and problem solving skills, which will make me a good fit at Skanska USA Civil. Relevant industry work experience include 2 years at Skanska Building, more than 3 years in intern and contract positions as I attended college.
Proficient in: AutoCAD, BIM 360 Bluebeam, Onscreen Estimating Software, PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Strong multi-tasker and communicator, works very well in team environments. Begin my career and contribute to company growth in a civil construction company. Aspire to contribute to company success, grow my technical, interpersonal, business skills and achieve my Professional Engineering license.

of T.I.) Evaluated final cost and quantity of work during pay application process and final pay for demolition, Grading and concrete contractor The final cost required adjustment due to a reduced quantity of excavation needed and fewer materials were procured at the time, causing the contract value to decrease.
Provided RFIs regarding duct supports, concrete slab modifications and canopy overhang to the designer Peer reviewed shop drawing submittals of steel for structural re-support of a roof system because the existing system was in process of being demolished due to incorrect information in contract documents Peer review included checking welds and positioning of HSS columns and wide flange beams Peer reviewed and assisted subcontractor in modifying rebar shop drawing submittal Checked concrete tickets for a canopy slab pour Quantity take-off for the quantity of soil excavation bins to be provided Included incorporating information of hydraulogy report for over excavation requirement due to soil quality LAX Enabling Project ($50 million, 4,722 LF of ductbank, 5,544 tons of excavation) Writing, submitting and posting RFIs pertaining to: Design changes of concrete, lean concrete and slurry when an increased strength was required due to soil instability.
Change of Communication Manhole Rim elevation and design changes due to rim adjustment.
Analyzing deflection of communication manhole lid to confirm adequate strength.
Analyzed soil loads on conduits to confirm deflection will not cause a fracture.
Maintained the log for disbursement materials and excavated materials.
Provided Submittals and compared them to make sure they satisfied specification requirements.
Created weekly subcontractor meeting agenda.
Tracked and submitted staking requests when needed.
Organized, tracked and ensured concrete tags coincided with concrete submittals.
