As the Program Manager/Director I had many duties including but not limited too overseeing 10 houses in the Duluth and Two Harbors areas. I was the Supervisor to each program's supervisor or coordinator. I oversaw all of payroll and would troubleshoot areas to keep overtime at a minimum. I oversaw the Company RN position and met with her every two weeks to review the medical needs of the clients within our programs. I was the Investigator for any VA complaints, I reported to the mental health and medical state Ombudsman positions. I was a company trainer and facilitated monthly, weekly and daily meetings and trainings to ensure quality assurance and to reduce controlled expenses. I reviewed all licensing requirements and would oversee licensing audits and relicensing. I also met with and reported with many county, state, medical, legal, and professional teams on a regular basis to repost on the successes and needs of the clients and to help make proactive decisions for future successes as they remain in our care.
I left RSI after being there for 4 years to help start the Arrowhead House Foster Care. The Arrowhead programs had Board and Lodge as well as Intensive Residential Treatment programs but did not have foster care programs. I was brought on board to start up four adult foster care programs and to create policies and procedures to ensure that were were providing quality services above and beyond the requirement of licensing. I screened clients for placements into our programs, I was responsible for staff recruitment as well and held trainings and meetings for all programming levels. I oversaw the RN position. I oversaw documentation and reporting to different state and county agencies. In less than a year I set in motion all of the requirements to fill all of our beds and maintained contact with placing case managers and hospitals to ensure positive communication channels were in open in the event that we would be doing business again as the company grows and serves more and more clients.
While working for RSI held many roles and titles. I started out by being the single site supervisor of the Brookston Adult Foster care program that specialized with young adults with Fetal Alcohol syndrome. After a few months I was running both Brookston programs the AFC and the Independent Living Skills Apartments. We helped clients with varying disabilities reach their life goals in a rural setting. We had a ranch out in Brookston and took care of horses and cattle. We then sold the meat from the cattle to pay for expenses and for new calves for the next year. I personally worked with the company on a limited use agreement that funded the ranch and helped oversee vocational opportunities for the clients who resided on the property. I left the Brookston ranch to work with individuals with MI/CD diagnoses in the Duluth area. I started by running one program at the Waldorf Building and eventually was promoted to the coordinator of two programs the Southwest Program and one of the Waldorf Programs. while overseeing programs for RSI I also sat in on many committees; I sat in on the human rights committee, the employee activity committee. the employee handbook committee and the committee who reported to our on-line documentation company that eventually turned into the RCT or Regional Care Track. I was also part a groundbreaking team that used assistive technology to oversee the overnight supervision of clients in their homes while monitored from a safe location that does not invade their personal privacy. During this time I also worked closely with the Regional Care Track team to help facilitate on-line documentation that would meet the requirements of all foster care licenses.
