Implemented a comprehensive student leadership and academic success program Men of Color Initiative (MOCI) at the University of the District of Columbia Community College that connects leadership development with remediation. The program part of the Achieving the Dream Initiative encourages and increases student engagement; address academic deficiencies through mandatory involvement in a structured academic and leadership development program designed specifically for men of color.
Managed the University of the District of Columbia Community College - College Access and Readiness for Everyone (C.A.R.E.) dual enrollment program. Under my leadership, the program expanded from 30 students to 150 students and from one to 20 participating high schools. During this growth period, the program saw a retention rate of 62% for funded students, the highest percentage among participating colleges and universities in the District of Columbia.
Develop, manage, and cultivate a network of local and national organizations, nonprofits, community based
groups, educators, government representatives, and education policy makers on behalf of the community
college. Direct all marketing and communications related to partnering. Assist with special projects related to
new program development, curriculum review, assessment, accreditation, professional development, and
academic innovation. Develop and guide dual enrollment program, articulation agreements, and volunteer
outreach initiatives focused on providing resources and support systems critical for student success in
college and career. Supervise 3 adjunct faculty, 20 volunteers, and 2 student staff workers. Identify potential
funding sources and draft letters, proposals, and reports to secure grants. Secured $136,000 federal grant
through proposal to support student retention goals for minority males. Supervise a team of 7 adjunct faculty, overseeing all aspects of the grant.
Designed, planned, and coordinated all information sessions, transfer fairs, and workshops. Developed marketing strategies and communication materials for the Office of Adult Student Services. Managed data collection and reported information to Dean. Drafted program development proposals and governed associated projects. Launched "One-Stop Shop" program designed to prepare students for college entry.
Student Affairs Specialist
