  • Coordinate and supervise workover operations on existing producing wells as well as the completions of newly drilled wells.
  • Responsible for developing relationships with various contracting companies and their employees to ensure the timely availability of their equipment and services.
  • Consulting and coordinating with production engineers to plan and discuss all workover procedures and completion operations prior to beginning the work on each well.
  • Be on location daily to ensure all company policies and procedures are followed by all contractors on site to ensure that all work is done according to the plan set forth by engineering and that is completed in a safe and timely fashion.
  • Review field tickets for accuracy and if accurate approve them for each contractor on site so they can be turned in to their appropriate departments for invoicing and later review each invoice for accuracy and if accurate approve them and forward to Accounts payable and if inaccurate, contact the appropriate personnel and ensure all inaccuracies are corrected in a timely manner and, so they can be resubmitted to me for approval.
  • Once all workover operations are completed, remain on location and meet with lease operator or contract gauger to discuss the plan for bringing the producing well back into production. Supervise lease operator operator carrying out that plan to ensure to ensure compliance and provide assistance if needed.
  • Remain on location to supervise any remaining contractors as well as the lease operator for all new completions once all completion operations have been completed. Monitor the well to establish a rate of production. Give directives to the appropriate personnel as to the desired choke size and ensure the proper calibration of the choke system on the well. In the event that artificial lift is required to produce the well, I monitor the operation of the chosen artificial lift system to ensure it's safe and proper operation and give directives to the appropriate personnel as to the strokes per minute or other required information dependent upon the artificial lift system that was installed.
  • Coordinate with engineering on which artificial lift system is to be installed on each well if needed. Design and configure a rod and tubing string to be ran in the well prior to completing each well that will require artificial lift and submit the configuration to engineering to for their approval and the insight in the event engineering disapproves.
  • Contact and meet the appropriate official with the Dept of Natural Resources to complete all testing and paperwork required in order to be in compliance with all government regulations and to obtain approval to sell produced oil to the chosen oil purchaser.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with with government personnel to ensure the compliant, smooth operation of all producing wells.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all contracting companies, relevant oil purchasers, lease operators in addition to company personnel in order to gain and maintain their respect which I have found results in higher morale and goes a long ways toward preventing issues and/or problems from arising and leads to increased profitability of the company operations.
  • Develop and maintain a good, respectful relationship with landowners in order to earn their respect in order to prevent that can be problematic for the company as well as the operation of the on their property. And ensure there is a mutual respect between myself and the landowner which always makes it easier and less costly for the company if/when there are environmental issues caused by the company.
  • Spend time in the office completing reports and any other required paperwork as well as any other misc duties that may be asked of me when not in the field.
  • Coordinate and at times supervise work in the field unrelated to workover operations such roustabouts and water trucks etc to ensure that they work efficiently and complete jobs in a timely fashion in order to keep operating costs down and profitability up.
  • Make irregular, unannounced visits to various leases in the field to to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of all company surface equipment and ensure that the appearance of each site is kept in compliance with company standards and any other misc things that will ensure lease profitability and decrease risk to company assets. Review and discuss any deficiencies with lease operator to express the importance of those deficiencies and teach them the importance of those things to ensure they are aware and knowledgeable. And in the event there are no deficiencies thank them for the job they are doing and let them know how important they are to the success of the company. Then report everything from my visit to my superior.
  • Respond to all emergencies in the field and contact the appropriate authorities and company management as to the nature of the emergency and remain on site until all risk to the company, its employees and/or the environment has been has been contained. In the event it is an environmental emergency, coordinate and supervise contractors or company personnel dispatched to ensure the cause has been fixed and to monitor all clean up operations to ensure compliance with company policy and all government regulations.
  • Coordinate with the selected chemical company to plan a chemical treatment program tailored to the needs of each individual well or central tank battery.
  • Troubleshoot wells in the field that haven't met their targeted production or have fallen off from the production they were making and address any possible causes if it can be done from the surface and discuss my findings with engineering and/or any other appropriate company personnel.
  • In the absence of HSE specialist, on occasion I have been tasked with performing safety audits to ensure that all company policies are being followed to help lower or eliminate any risks to the safety of employees or contractors in an effort to lower or eliminate risk to the company and it's profitability.
  • With input from engineering, design and supervise the construction of tank battery facilities, flowlines, saltwater disposal facilities and all other associated surface equipment.
