I have spent the last 29 years in the custom shape molded plastics industry. During that time I have been with only two companies. I have performed every job in the industry, starting as a cost estimator and most recently as President of Huntington Foam LLC. I have opened 4 new facilities, expanded 4, relocated 2 and unfortunately closed 2. I am very driven to manage costs and establish strategic goals that are mutually beneficial to customers and vendors. I have turned around individual facilities that were scheduled to close early in my career and most recently was handed a company that was in federal receivership. I was able to turn that into a very successful company. The company became so successful that the majority owner has decided to sell the business and in doing so is eliminating my position so the new owner can put their own president in place. I have always established personal relationships with our top customers and vendors so that we worked as a team and not in opposing directions. I have always been able to recognize and recruit the talent needed to take the company to the next level and build a strong team along the way.
Was promoted to president after most of the executive team was terminated during a federal receivership of the company. I inherited a company that had a negative $5 ;m;million EBITDA and took them to a positive $6 million EBITDA six years later. I was able to reorganize departments and hire the right individuals on my executive staff. We were able to keep a very lean management group while at the same time growing the company in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Grew the company from a one plant operation with sales of $4 million a year to over $60 million in sales by 2014. We also lost a $20 million a year customer due to the previous ownership of Huntington Foam. I found talented individuals to staff our engineering department and sales staff. We also were able to diversify the company into other foam plastic materials in order to gain entry into other markets.
Started my career with Tuscarora as a cost estimator, which then led to sample making, packaging design, Manager of their Corporate DesignCenter in New Brighton, PA. After making the department more efficient I was given the task of introducing a new product line of custom aluminum containers. The aluminum containers alone failed and so I took it upon myself to develop a new division of returnable containers ranging from triple wall corrugated, thermoformed, injection molded, gas assisted structural foam and complete Knock Downs for the auto industry. In developing this new group of products I also spent a year establishing a national network of independent manufacturer representative. This division became a success and was integrated with their main stream sales force. My next promotion was as a plant manager for their IMG facility in Beaver, PA. This plant was slated to close and I turned it around to a +28% net margin business. I was then promoted to oversee a start up thermoforming group in Beaver, PA along with the IMG business. Once both were up and running smoothly I was promoted to National Accounts Manager. In this capacity I worked with the largest customers and increased their growth by introducing new products and expanding on the current base of products.
Only attended classes that pertained to my new job at Tuscarora Plastics such as property of materials, applied math courses and industry related courses.
Worked two jobs during my 3 years in earning my degree. I worked with an industrial safety company as their inside sales manager in the morning and then an internship in the afternoon at Robert Morris University to pay for my tuition.
