From a young age my parents have had hens or raised broilers. I have been surrounded with chickens my whole life, and I have helped with the upkeep and maintaining of a healthy environment for them. At age 17, I was hired by a Poultry Processing Plant as the Lead processor, where I butchered chickens and fulfilled customized orders for each customer. Here, I learned how to properly take care of and process a chicken. Soon after, I was hired as a Poultry Assistant working for Willow Top Poultry, where I learned proper living conditions for each bird and computerized feed, water, and air quality systems. I feel with my experience over the years I would be qualified for this position and I am willing to learn, grow, and expand. I have a strong work ethic, I am on time and trust worthy. I feel I have good communication skills and am easy to work with and I have a good awareness in problem solving.
Presently, I work at Willow Top Poultry caring for over 340,000 chickens for each cycle in eight separate facilities, seven cycles per year. I was the Lead Chicken Processor at Duncan's Poultry Plant. I was responsible for butchering many different types and species of poultry, including turkeys, chickens, quail, ducks, and geese. In the butchering room, I was required to kill the poultry, place them into the scalder, transfer them to the plucker and again transfer the poultry to the gutting room. I would gut the bird, examining each bird for any signs of bad meat, or intestinal infection.
I was accountable for butchering the poultry per each customized order depending on the customer request. Examples being, separating and bagging the heart, liver, and gizzard or cutting them into grilling portions, etc.
I was also responsible for State Approved clean up, bleaching and power washing all tools.
