Involved in development of oncolytic Vesiculoviruses, characterization of their stability in blood circulation and identification of ways that protect viruses from serum neutralization and increase their anti-tumor efficacy. Characterized serum neutralization of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV). Established serum neutralization of VSV can be reduced by covalent modification of VSV G or CD55 incorporation on VSV surface. Exchanged VSV glycoprotein G with glycoprotein from a closely related Maraba Virus and demonstrated improved protection of VSV from VSV-immune and non-immune serum in vitro. Pseudotyped VSV showed better survival in passively immunized mice tumor models. Results from these studies have been published or are currently under-preparation.
Studied pathogensis of Alphviruses (Sindbis virus, Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus, Eastern equine encephalitis virus). Cloned individual virus genes and analyzed gene expression at RNA and protein level.
Involved in nitrogen fixing bacteria research studies. Planned, directed and conducted laboratory and field experiments.
Served as farm manager in animal and crop production sections. Successfully planned, directed and managed day to day functioning of both sections.
