As a candidate in this field, my first priority will be to absorb as much knowledge about the various concepts which relate to my work. I would apply my knowledge of the law along with my experience in law enforcement to put my best efforts to master this field of work.
Gather preliminary investigation information as a first responder to crime scenes. Follow-up on investigations to include making contact with victims, suspects and witnesses. Obtain evidence and maintain chain of command. Respond quickly to dispatch and determine the appropriate actions at crime and disaster scenes. Monitor and investigate suspicions persons, situations and unusual activities. Direct traffic during emergency and congested situations. Instruct suspects on field sobriety tests. Prepare cases for trial and appear and testify in court as a witness. Write reports on arrests made, activities performed and unusual incidents observed. Mediate domestic-related disturbances and protected victims from harm. Check with local pawnshops to locate stolen property. Respond to and investigate security and burglar alarms. Search vehicles, buildings, homes and property for evidence and stolen property. Write detailed arrest and accident reports. Inspect squad vehicle and weapons daily and arrange for routine and special maintenance. Organize and record facts to prepare incident reports.
