My most proud accomplishment, would have to becoming a mother. I never thought that such a small being could change my life forever. Being a mother for the past year has made me grow and learn so much about myself. I have become even more selfless than I have ever been and I am applying for this job now to better myself and our situation.
My next accomplishment in life would have to be my job as a 911 dispatcher. I have been in that lifestyle my entire life with my Mom being a Fire Fighter for the City of Gainesville for 20+ years. When I was able to somewhat follow in her footsteps and help those who needed helping, it was a great sense of accomplishment. I was also promoted to Certified Training Officer during my employment and was responsible for training others to do the very important job we were tasked to do. On top of being promoted to a training officer, I also was tested and promoted to being a Fire Rescue and EMS dispatcher. Also, During my employment there, there was an emergency situation where they needed volunteers to deploy to Columbia County in order to help with radio communication. I had just received my certification in that specific field and jumped to volunteer. Not knowing how long I was needed, or when we would return. I have always put others' needs before mine and will continue to be that way. There is no better feeling.
I am a skilled telecommunicator and customer service representative in addressing citizens and customers needs with speed, accuracy, and professionalism. I was a 911 dispatcher for just under 3 years and before that I was a customer service representative for a call center named Global-Tel Link.
I have been a Customer Service Representative who maintained a high level of professionalism, patience and efficiency to minimize customer dissatisfaction and increase customer loyalty.
I was a photographer as well as a sales representative for the products. After I would photograph the customers of all shapes and sizes and all ages, I would sit them down and show them the product in order to make a sale.
In a very short time, I was trained and doing the work on my own with exceptional feedback from most, if not all, of the customers I worked with.
The only reason I left this job was because when I started this job I was 3 months pregnant, and I worked as long as I could until it was time to have my baby.
This job has prepared me for so many things in life I cannot begin to summarize it. It was an extremely fast-paced work environment with a lot of stress as well as a strong sense of satisfaction when you helped those who needed helping. While working here, I developed even faster typing and problem solving skills. In that kind of environment, you had to make quick decisions with 100% accuracy. The littlest mistake could mean life or death.
There would be times where I would answer anywhere from 75-100 calls in a 2-hour period. I loved the fast-paced work and it made the time fly by. I am not the type of person to sit and work and watch the clock. I love to be involved and be doing something at all times.
The reason I was unable to continue at this location, was due to my pregnancy. They needed me on night shift due to my skill level. Unfortunately I had a very difficult first 4 months of my pregnancy and needed to go to my doctors often. With working a 7pm-7am shift, I was unable to balance the stressful and busy shift work, with doctors appointments and my illness. They would not work with me and switch my shift or let my co-workers donate vacation time to me so that I could take the days off I needed in order to go to my doctors or when I was too sick to come in. The only decision I had was to resign, and it was a very heavy-hearted resignation.
I graduated 4th in my class with a GPA of 4.0.
I was a dedicated member of the Spirit Of Union County Symphonic and Marching Band. I was a student leader and also did Jazz Band and anything I could associate myself with music.
I was also a member of BETA club and was the Secretary in my Senior Year.
I received a score of 29 on my ACT scores and qualified for 100% Florida Bright Futures Scholarship.
I attended UNF for one semester. Unfortunately I chose to take a Psychology class who's professor was more focused on lectures than the information in the text book. As I did attend EVERY lecture, when it came time to take the final exam (which was the ONLY score in his class), I did not focus on his lectures, but instead studied the text book. His exam unfortunately focused on specific things he may have said in his lecture versus facts about the topic. I received a high C in his class which brought my GPA down lower than Florida Bright Futures would accept in order for me to keep my scholarship.
At that point, I had to drop out because I could not afford to continue my education at that time.
