Read, analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Accessionate all acceptable cytology specimen
Prepare and label all cytology specimens and cell blocks
Stain and cover slips processed specimens
Expected to perform routine and corrective maintenance on equipment.
Expected to maintain the automatic stainer used for gyn and non-gyn specimens in Cytology prep lab.
Maintain staining set-ups in the Procedure Room (X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT or Special's)

Address workflow needs of multiple laboratory departments
Be assigned to projects as determined by Laboratory Administration
Recognize situations which require notification of a supervisor.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers and the general public.
Perform routine Histology procedures to include processing, embedding, microtomy, routine staining and special stains. May be required to perform frozen sectioning and immunohistochemistry. Must be able to cut 4 micron sections and place 2 ribbons on each slide.
Is able to determine acceptable vs. unacceptable processing, embedding, cutting and staining.
Ensure proper labeling of all material.
Perform non-technical duties such as block and slide filing, supply inventory and general laboratory clean-up.
Maintain a clean and well organized work area
Quality Control- perform daily and periodic preventative maintenance; trouble shoots minor problems; maintains detailed logs of instruments. Perform routine maintenance on all laboratory instruments. Ensures proper labeling of reagents and discards expired reagents
Inventory- inform the manager when supplies and reagents must be ordered.
Safety- wears appropriate PPE; follows established protocols for safety, infection control, compliance and use of hazardous materials
Communication- able to communicate effectively and respectfully with technical, administrative, professional and research staff.
May be assigned other duties as required.
Prepare everything needed by instructor for class
